Some Exciting News

Logan is expecting a little brother or sister in early July. We are just elated and can't wait to meet our new addition.

Snow/Fondue

Last Sunday, we had my family over for a fondue party. We had oil, cheese and chocolate fondue with shrimp, salmon, steak, chicken, zucchini, french bread, carrots, broccoli, angel food cake, pretzels, marshmallows, strawberries and bananas. It was amazing! Daniel and I had great leftovers this week with philly steak sandwiches, chicken enchiladas and shrimp and salmon pasta. I'm thinking we need to do it again on Valentine's Day. So much cheaper than the melting pot and just as good!

It finally snowed today (although I really shouldn't complain because I've loved the Spring like weather) so Logan helped Daniel shovel the driveway this morning and made a snowman this afternoon. After that, we had a great family night and watched the Incredibles all together. We love family time.

Christmas Day

Logan woke up extremely early on Christmas morning...5:00 am!! He usually wakes up at 8 or 8:30 so we were not expecting this. I think it had something to do with all the sugar he had the day before. We watched signing time in our room hoping he would become tired and would go back to sleep, but no such luck. Around 5:45 we decided just to go ahead and do Christmas morning.

After opening all the presents, we had our cinnimon roll wreath (so good!) and enjoyed Logan playing with his toys. We went to church, came back, took naps and then went to Daniel's brother's house for Christmas dinner. It was a delicious ham dinner (Logan's absolute favorite). As always, Logan loved hanging out with his cousins and we really enjoyed playing games with Wilson and Kelly.

It was a wonderful Christmas. Being a mom and seeing Logan just so happy and excited about everything (including the lights, the tree, all the decorations, singing- his favorite was jingle bells, and playing with his nativity and talking about baby Jesus a lot) makes it even better.

Christmas Eve/Christmas Day

We had a really relaxing Christmas this year. On Christmas Eve, we went to my sister's house for dinner and had all the traditional Goates Christmas food (which has to be the best food ever!) and then came home and opened Christmas PJ's.

Christmas Time

We were really busy during the Christmas season this year but had such a great time.

Sorry this picture is blurry. We babysat our niece one night and they were having fun riding Daniel.

I had some friends from work and their kids over for a lunch date. The kids had a great time and so did we. My friend Laura who went to BYU with me and grad school with me just moved to Atlanta and we wanted to have a little get together before she left.

A week before Christmas, we got together with Daniel's side of the family for a dinner/Christmas celebration. The kids made a craft snowmen and played pin the nose on the reindeer. Santa Clause (aka my dad) came and gave the kids some candy and a coloring book. The kids were so excited to see Santa (with an exception of a couple of the younger kids).

My sister-in-law, Annie, made the cutest scarf/mittens and hat for Logan. He loved it and looks so adorable in it.

My parents came the week before Christmas and gave Logan a Hudson Bay (very big company in Canada) jacket and toque. I have a matching wool antique blanket that I got years ago from my Grandma. I absolutely love the Hudson Bay pattern and have since I learned about the company and its role in Canadian history in elementary school.

The weekend before Christmas, we made chocolates with my family. This has been a tradition since I can remember. I remember doing it with my great grandparents and it really made me miss them.

One of our favorite Christmas traditions is going to see the Christmas lights in Layton. We got all dressed up and put Logan in his snowpants for the first time. He looked adorable. Afterwards, we tried out our new hot chocolate we were given and had whipped cream on top. What a great family night!

We had a nice dinner at my sister's house with lots of family the Monday before Christmas. Logan enjoyed playing with his cousins and my cousin's son.

We love Christmas time and being around family. It's by far my favorite time of year.

6 years

Daniel and I celebrated our 6 year anniversary over Thanksgiving weekend. It was our first night alone together since Logan was born and it was such a nice break. Logan stayed at his Grandma and Grandpa Edwards and absolutely loved it.

We dropped off Logan and then went to the Jordan River temple for a session. It was such a great start to the weekend. We then went to temple square where we got to see them turn on the Christmas lights for this year. So pretty. We then went to the Roof Restaurant. We love that place. It is so worth every penny and it was nice for us to re-kindle our relationship.

After the Roof Restaurant, we then went Park City and stayed at a great hotel. Daniel was romantic and brought sparkling apple cider and gave me a really nice chain for my heart necklace that he gave me for our first anniversary. (The chain broke about 6 months ago and I've really missed wearing it).

The next morning, we took our time getting ready and ate a delicious waffle breakfast at the hotel. We then went down main street and then on to the outlets. It was so nice shopping and not worry about our almost 2 year old.

After shopping, we stopped at Applebees right before picking up Logan. It was honestly the best anniversary yet and we loved every minute of it. We so need to get away more often.

Thanksgiving

For Thanksgiving this year, we went to Daniel's parents house. The food was great and Logan had a blast hanging out with his cousins and grandparents and we had a great time visiting with everyone.

Logan-isms

Logan is one cute, energetic boy and I wanted to make sure I journaled a little bit of the things I think are really cute.

Last week when I was going through Logan's clothes, Logan asked for milk. I told him to go get it (we usually keep a sippy cup in the fridge)..I heard him open the fridge and yelled at him asking if he got the milk. He said "yes, thank you". I then heard him climbing up the stairs and kind of panting. When he got to the top of the stairs, I saw that he had a whole gallon of milk (and it was his milk, not mine and Daniel's..he apparently knows it is a different color) and then asks for help. He is such a clever boy and I couldn't stop laughing!

The last couple of weeks, Daniel and I have been watching how Logan interacts with his toys. He often signs or talks to them saying thank you or no or bye-bye. It is so cute. When he has food in one hand, he asks himself to share and then puts some in the other hand and looks at his other hand and says thank-you. It really is so cute.

Logan loves playing with Koda. He often asks where she is and if Koda is lying down, Logan will get on top of her and say "ride, ride!" Koda is not a huge fan so she will roll over to her back to be scratched.Logan also feeds Koda and will often get her scoop from her food bag, scoop it up with food and put it right in her bowl. He also tells us when Koda needs more water. I think Koda is glad someone is watching out for her.Logan loves chasing Koda and running around the table. He will giggle and laugh and do this for about 10 minutes at a time. Also, if we go from upstairs to downstairs or downstairs to upstairs, Logan will always say "come on Koda". Adorable.

Logan asks a lot of "what" and "where" questions and a couple weeks ago would put himself in time out just for fun. I think he wanted to hear us count. Whenever he walks past a corner, he says "time out!". He also knows when he is being naughty and as soon as I catch him, he will run to time out and start counting.

Lately, Logan has been into racing and likes to race from our front door to our couch. He will go up to me or Daniel or both of us, pull on us and say come on. The smile on his face when we follow him is priceless. He also loves doing somersaults but for some reason thinks he has to stand on the wii-board for him to do it.

I am sure there are lots of fun things I am missing but we sure love our Logan boy and his personality. He makes us laugh constantly and we are so grateful we get to be his parents.

New York

At the beginning of August, I went to New York with my sister and mom for 5 days. I had a blast even though I really missed Logan and Daniel. We had so much fun shopping, eating, seeing shows and more shopping. New York is AMAZING!

We saw Mary Poppins, Book of Mormon, Wicked and Lion King. The Book of Mormon was not my kind of show but I LOVED the others. Incredible. They were all so different. Mary Poppins was so colorful and magical, Wicked had unbelievable talent and the story line was so witty, and the animal costumes/makeup for Lion King were jaw dropping. I think next time Daniel has to come with me because he would love them too.

The shopping is undescribeable. Macey's alone was about 2-3x the size of the local mall. They had a whole floor just for shoes!! I also met for snow cones with Daniel's cousin Melissa.

Halloween

A couple weeks before Halloween, my friends' church was having a carnival. We went and had a blast.

Logan absolutely LOVED Halloween and totally got the trick or treating thing. He went from house to house saying "tik teat" "thank-you" "bye-bye". He was the most adorable puppy you've ever seen.

Playing Catchup/Picture Overload

I've been a MAJOR blog slacker. I got behind and then it just seemed overwhelming to catch up...but here I am and will hopefully get caught up tonight. We had tons of fun this summer! We did a lot of swimming, playing with cousins, vacations (which you already saw) and just playing outside. We got together with the Edwards cousins when Jared and Lurana and their son Max were here. Logan loved playing with all his cousins. The girls went out for dinner and then to the RS broadcast. It was so nice to hang out with just the girls and hopefully we can do it more in the future :)
We've also been to the aquarium quite a few times and to the zoo. Logan is at the zoo with his friend Lucy and went to the aquarium with Lucy and Fynn and another time with his Jones cousins. I had my old YW over a couple times. One time for the finale of switched at birth and one time for conference. I also got together with my grad school friends for Nikki's baby shower.

We've now been in our house for over 5 years and felt like it was time for a change. We painted the walls a blue-ish grey, got new curtains, rug, entry tables, chair, pillows and pillow covers. It feels like a new house and we love the change!

Waterton- Trip 2

We always have such a great time in Waterton between hiking, biking, boating, hanging out with family, and eating great food. I love this place!

I asked my dad to take some family pics while we were there. I think he got some great ones.

We were able to hang out with Scott, his wife and their girls for a day and a half and loved every second of it. We wish they lived closer!

One of my favorite things to do in Waterton is go for boat rides. I think we went 3 or 4 times when we were there this year.

We went on a short hike up crandle with my nephews, sister and mom and dad. Hiking in Waterton is the best!

One of Logan's favorite things to do while in Canada was go to the candy store with Grandpa. As soon as Grandpa got headed near his bike Logan got right in the bike trailor. One night, Grandpa was going to take Max to the candy store and Logan (being the smart boy he is), got right into the trailor. He wasn't going to let them go without him!

18 months!

I can't believe Logan is 18 months old!! He has his 18 month check-up and here are his stats:

Weight: 20th%ile
Height: 56%ile
Head Circumference: 65th%ile

Logan gets more and more fun everyday. Seriously. Sometimes I just watch him and think he is the cutest and funniest kid ever. He is such a charmer and incredibly smart. He is talking and signing more and more each day. My favorite sign Logan recently learned is "deer". He said that one a lot in Waterton. He is a very happy boy, a great eater (he'll eat almost anything and mooch from anyone and everyone) and is a little mischievous. He is a social butterfly and loves being around people and showing off. He shares things with others and loves to help around the house. He thinks he is very independent but will cling to mommy or daddy in a second if he is unsure of who is around him. He recently has been folding his arms independently when saying a prayer and says amen at the end. So cute! He also loves music and mommy singing to him. He is such a loving boy and we are so blessed to be his parents!

Stadium of Fire

Stadium of Fire has become a tradition for Daniel and I (I think this was our 6th time) and we absolutely love it. This year was the best year yet. We have incredible seats every year in the deaf section and we get to see a lot of old friends. The interpreter was awesome too. The way he signed some of Brad's songs was just hilarious. We were crying we were laughing so hard. David Archuleta was great as well as the jets and paragliders, but Brad Paisley and the fireworks were definetly our favorite! I wouldn't consider myself a country fan before last night, but I am now converted. He was amazing and he played so many songs. I don't think any other artists in past years we have gone to ever played as long as he did. The fireworks were incredible. They played Katy Perry's "firework" and coordinated the fireworks to it...Loved that and sang every word. Can't wait til next year!

Summer Outings

Our Trip: Part 3 (Waterton)

Logan was a perfect little boy on the car trip to Waterton. We had a great time there. Between great food, biking, hiking, swimming, hot dog roast, trips to the ice cream store and park, how could we go wrong? Logan loved every little second of it. I think he especially loved showing off for Grandma and Grandpa and getting spoiled by them. He also liked seeing the deer, mountain sheep, fox, gophers and bears. What a great trip! Can't wait to go to Waterton again in a couple weeks :)

Bear's Hump

Ross (our friend who owns the ice cream store) insisted Logan got his own ice cream and gave him a free one. Logan had that cone gripped so hard and screamed if anyone came near it. That was HIS ice cream and he enjoyed every second of it. He has been asking for ice cream ever since.

This bear had no fear of humans whatsoever...He came to the back of our car and then to the side where I was sitting and put his front paws on the car. There was less than an inch of glass between us...scary..Logan kept on saying "koda koda". After we taught him the sign for bear, he used that instead whenever we saw one.

Our trip: Part 2 (Dupont, WA and Vancouver, BC)

We got to our friends house in Dupont a little after 12. We ate lunch and chatted for awhile then Daniel went with Jaime to his ASL class that he teaches. When they came back, we had a great dinner and just hung out until bed.

The next morning, we went to Vancouver. There was excitement in the air for the Stanley Cup final. We checked into our hotel and then went to Granville Island.

I have been dreaming of these crepes since I last visited about 4 years ago...Yum...Just as good as I remembered

That night we had dinner, smore's on their bbq with the biggest marshmellows I have ever seen (wish I had some pics!) and then we all slept through a movie. The next day, we headed to Waterton

Portland

For lunch we stopped in Baker City. They had a restaurant there that had a train on it. Logan loves trains so we thought we would check it out. It had a train that went all the way around the restaurant through hills and up mountains and things. Logan enjoyed it and pointed around the room every second he wasn't eating.

We got to Portland just in time for dinner and met our friends Josh and Lisa and their son Aidan and Elaine and Evan. We all went to the Provo Deaf Ward together about 5 years ago so it was fun to catch up. There was even a man there that made the boys balloon toys. They were scared to death of him but they loved the balloons.

After dinner, Josh and Lisa walked us over to their new place they were moving to that weekend. What a cute house!! It was built in the early 1900's and has yellow siding and rose bushes out front. I love it!

We then went to Josh and Lisa's and stayed overnight. The boys had a wonderful time playing together and Logan had fun playing with their dog as well.

We weren't there for long but we enjoyed every second of it. We wish our friends lived closer but at least they live in a pretty city for us to come visit :)

Our Trip (Part 1)

We just got back from a 2 week trip to Portland, Olympia, Vancouver BC and Waterton. We had a great time and Logan was such a good boy even with all of that time in the car.

We left Monday afternoon and drove to Boise.

About 1-1.5 hours before we got to Boise, we noticed our gas mileage sucked and that the road seemed very bumpy. When we pulled into Boise, it was pretty clear something was wrong with our car. We pulled into a gas station at the pump, got out, and noticed the drivers' side tire was completely flat. Daniel tried putting air in but this was the result.

I changed Logan's diaper and fed him as Daniel unpacked our entire trunk, got out the spare and replaced the tire. Daniel dropped us and all of our stuff off at the hotel and went to Walmart where we were suppose to have a warranty. After talking to them for awhile they said they would not have time to do it and to come back the next morning at 7am. While Daniel was with them, Logan and I went swimming at our hotel. We were the only ones in the pool (it was a little chilly but neither of us cared) and had fun splashing in the water.

The next morning, Daniel decided to take Logan because we thought it would be a pretty
short deal. Daniel went to that Walmart and they said they actually didn't have the tire we needed and to go to another Walmart 20 minutes away and gave Daniel the address. Well, it was the wrong address so after Daniel was lost for about 10 minutes, he looked it up on his phone. They got back to the hotel around 10 (I had worked out and packed everything up)and then we hit the road.

A couple months ago, I ordered tickets to a Day out with Thomas. Logan loves Thomas so I thought he would have a fun day and love hanging out with his cousins. He wasn't that interested at first, but after he realized that it was Thomas and he saw the conductor and things, he was much happier. He loved the train ride and the animal balloons (he got a monkey that he destroyed within seconds). He also got a tattoo of Thomas and his hand. He loved that his cousin Max got one too and they were the same. He kept on pointing to his hand and Max's hand and just smiled. I love hanging out with Logan boy!

Wild Child

I decided I wanted to do something fun with Logan today so I took him to the Wild Child in Centerville. It has bounce houses, ride on toys, slides, ect ect. He loved every second of it. It took him a few minutes to warm up and realize he could play with whatever he wanted. There were only a couple other kids there so it was perfect.

Daniel's Birthday

Daniel's birthday was on Thursday, but we have pretty much been celebrating his birthday for a week. That's how I was raised :) On Saturday, we went to Tucanos in SLC. We prefer the Orem one but weren't willing to drive that far just for food. It was pretty good, but not as good as we remembered. Logan loved every second of it. He loved watching the guys run around with the meet and a variety of different food. He loved the music and the people watching. They even sang to Daniel for his birthday while Daniel played the tamberine. I love watching Daniel dance. It makes my day.

On Monday, there was a play at Daniel's high school that we decided to go to. Daniel's parents were nice enough to watch Logan so we dropped him off at their house and went to Chili's for dinner (we each got the molten lava cake for dessert.....so yummy we are still dreaming of it- that counted as his cake so I didn't have to make him one and then eat it all) and then to the play.

On Wednesday, we got Daniel his birthday present: HTC Evo 4G Android. His sidekick was getting cut off at the end of the month and we had researched the different plans and companies for awhile now. We decided this would be the best phone for him. I am so jealous. Daniel absolutely loves it. His favorite part is that he can call VRS just like our VP as well as being able to call our home VP and friends VPs. Basically what that means is that he can call whoever he wants to videochat. He has been playing with it non-stop since he got it and loves finding new apps to use.

On Thursday I made Lasagne for dinner and we ate ice cream.

Daniel is a great husband and the most amazing father. Logan absolutely LOVES his daddy. The other day we were in church and Daniel was asked to say the opening prayer. He said he would but was a little concerned at what our son would do. When he got up and walked towards the pulpit Logan was screaming at the top of his lungs "da da da da" and signing it as well. He was crying and almost jumped out of my arms. Poor little guy hates his daddy not being right beside him all the time. After the prayer I let Logan go and he ran up to his daddy and immediately stopped crying. Logan and I are so lucky to have him in our lives even if he is an old man.

Gratitude

There is something about springtime that just makes me so happy. I was listening to byutv and heard the Mo-tab sing "For the Beauty of the Earth" and "You Raise Me Up". I love those songs. While they were singing "For the Beauty of the Earth" they showed beautiful places around the world. I love pretty things and places and it got me thinking of all the many blessings I do have. Here are a few of them.

-my family. I couldn't have asked for a better husband and father for my child. Daniel is constantly serving me and doing things for our family. He works hard to support our family. He serves everyone he can and is constantly trying to be a better man. Of course there is our perfect son Logan as well. He brings so much happiness to our lives. He is always learning new things and wanting to share what he has learned with us. His smile melts my heart and when he is upset and I give him a hug, he taps my back as if to say, "I am ok, mom". He is perfect. I often catch myself watching Logan and Daniel and Koda play together and just think...wow...I am so blessed.
-our jobs. I am so grateful both Daniel and I have jobs that we love and enable us to do the things that we want and need. We both love our jobs and working with kids (I have the younger population and Daniel has teenagers). Sometimes I wish I worked less and feel a little guilty for working, but when I drop Logan off at the babysitters and see that he loves it there (she is right across the street and has a son the same age as Logan) and the fact that I only work a few days a week and have the entire summer off, I feel much better.
-our home. We have the perfect home for our needs right now. It's not too big to clean and our yard is a perfect size for Logan and Koda to play. It fits us just right.
-Waterton....yep..I think it is the prettiest place on earth (even if right now it is literally covered in snow). We are so fortunate to be able to go there whenever and enjoy God's beautiful creation.
- knowledge that I have a Father in Heaven that loves me and that his Son, Jesus Christ, atoned for my sins and is my Savior. I am also grateful for temples and that I can be with my family forever if I live righteously. There is no greater blessing.

Easter

What a great Easter! Seriously. Best yet. I have a great video of Logan collecting all of his eggs and putting them in his basket and finding his basket, but it won't load. Bummer. (Anyone have any suggestions?) After all that, we had muffins for breakfast and got ready for church. I was released from nursery last Sunday so I was able to go to relief society for the first time in ages. Logan was great during that but after he saw his daddy in between classes, he had a hard time. Daniel had to teach a class so Logan was stuck with me for Sunday School and was not pleased about it. Sacrament was even worse. He had tantrums in the middle of the isle. Good thing majority of our branch is deaf. We ended up leaving a little early because Logan was exhausted and we couldn't do it anymore. We then headed down to Provo to my sisters' house. It was my nephews (Myles) birthday so we celebrated that and had a great Easter dinner with all of my favorites. Logan loved playing with his cousins and we had a great time too. My brother-in-law took a couple family pics of us outside, unfortunately Daniel has a really hard time not squinting for pics so we didn't get any great ones. Oh well. Next time.

Logan absolutely loved Easter. He loved eating jelly beans and chocolate for breakfast and kept looking at us like "really? You're really going to let me eat this?" Loved it!

Easter Eve

We took Logan to Barnes Park in Kaysville (which is super close to our house) for a HUGE Easter egg hunt. What a great time and very well planned out. There were 4 different fields full of easter eggs for different ages (what a brilliant idea!) so Logan didn't have to compete with 12 year olds. There were a ton of people there but Logan was still able to get plenty of eggs. It was hilarious to see the parents and how some of them took the whole thing very seriously. Logan did a great job and knew exactly what to do. He obviously wasn't super fast, but he enjoyed people watching and just the entire experience. He even got to see ducks in the stream which he loved because I have been reading a duck book to him at least 5 times a day for the past couple of weeks. Watching him sign "duck" and "thank-you" has to be the cutest thing in the world.

Being a parent is so fun! We feel like little kids being able to put together an Easter basket for Logan and hide a bunch of eggs.

We have lots of random pics. Feel free to skip if you want. Like I've said before, this is our way to journal so while we may have blurry pics and sequences of pics, they have meaning to us and we will look at them with fond memories.

Last Saturday, we took Logan to Toys R Us for a Play Date with Thomas....um...if you can even call it that. It was pretty disappointing. They had a table kids could color, someone was reading a Thomas story and they had a rug with some trains...that was it...but Logan had a great time even though we thought it was kind of lame. He loves other kids and is definetely a people watcher.

We also brought Logan to the Library for the first time to get some Thomas DVD's and look at some books. Logan LOVES books but I think was overwhelmed with the whole thing and had a mini meltdown...note to self. Don't take Logan anywhere in public when it is his nap time.

Our good friends are moving to Oregon and we are really going to miss them. Logan is going to miss their son Aidan too. They are really good playing together and have the same interests. They both love their dogs (they have a golden retriever and we have a black lab). They even sign the same. So adorable. I think we will have to visit them real soon.

Even though Logan is only one, he has lots of friends. We are really lucky to have so many friends that have kids the same age as him. He also gets to play 3 days a week with the boy across the street. The other day I was cleaning out the car and Logan was with me in the garage. In a matter of seconds he ran to the sidewalk and was on his way across the street to play with his friend Zach was was playing b-ball in their driveway with his dad. He cried and cried when I told him he needed to stay with his momma so we went over there to say hi. He then wanted to cross the street on the other side to see his other neighbor friends. What a social butterfly.

Sweet Boy

Yesterday, Daniel and I were lying on our bed reading to Logan. Logan took the book and it hit my lip pretty hard. It hit so hard I seriously thought I had chipped my tooth and was crying. Logan started whining and asked to get down and then just hugged me. It started swelling up so we got Logan's teething animals from the freezer and gave one to Logan and I held one up to my lip. Logan then held his up to my lip and then switched them back and forth and made sure I always had one up. After about 15 minutes, it was time to get Logan ready for bed. We got Logan into his Pj's and then went downstairs to watch Thomas. While Logan was on my lap, he held his animal teether up to my lip and kept on looking back and making sure I was ok. He is mommy's little helper and is such a sweet boy.

You know how when Logan was a couple weeks old I blogged about his first bath and how I had been dreaming of the day that I could wrap my own little baby in a towel after their first bath? Well, today, Daniel's dream became a reality.

Usually when Daniel comes home, Logan is either taking a nap at the sitters or at our house. Well, today when Daniel came home, the house was pretty clean, dinner was cooking (what a homemaker I am ...Ha!) and Logan flew open the door and signed "dad" repeatedly and then opened his arms for Daniel to pick him up. I have never seen Daniel smile so big. He loves being Logan's Daddy and Logan loves him being his Daddy.

Saturdays

We usually have a long list of things to do on Saturday and this Saturday was no exception...however.. we decided to only do some of the list and have a relaxing day as well. We woke up and had biscuits for breakfast and then put together Logan's trike he got for Christmas. It took us awhile, but it was so worth it. Logan loves his trike. We also did some shopping, put Logan's bike trailor together and of course watched the BYU game. Go cougars!

Logan at 14 months

At 14 months, Logan has added the following signs to his vocabulary:

-cough
-bye-bye

-train

-please

-swing

-car

-yes

He loves signing and communicating with us. He even tries to make up signs to see if we understand and can learn a sign and use it correctly with only seeing it a couple times. He can also put 3 signs together independently.

He is jabbering all the time and sometimes they are actual words that are in the right context. For example "dog", "koda", "mom", "dad", "up" , and "eat"

Logan is starting the tantrum stage and throws himself on the ground if we take away something he wants to play with or leave the room for a second.

He is feeding himself with a spoon. No joke. Sometimes we hold the bowl down so he won't flip it over but he is able to get the food (like applesauce and yogurt) on his spoon and put it in his mouth without spilling it. We are very impressed.

He is a good helper. He always wants to be on the counter when mom is cooking and help her put things away. He also likes to clean the walls, vacuum, sweep, and put things in the garbage. He likes to feed Koda and will go to Koda's food bag and try to scoop out food for her and put it in her bowl. Logan also likes to get Koda water.

Logan loves to brush his teeth and steal our toothbrushes to brush his teeth. He knows his bed routine and knows when it is time to brush his teeth.

Logan still loves taking baths. He also loves turning off the tv and even the thought of it makes him laugh. He definitely is a teaser. He loves Koda and will drink his bottle while lying on her and is sad if we punish Koda when she eats Logan's food. (We put her in the closet and close the doors...you can see her claws under the door and Logan keeps on signing Koda and bangs on the door for her to come out.)

Logan can go down our slide all by himself and really enjoys the slide and swing. He cries when it is time to go inside. He will grip the swing and bend his legs so we can't get him out. He is actually a stubborn little boy. I wonder where he gets it from lol.

Logan LOVES Thomas. When he is sick, that is the only thing to stop him from whining. He watches 5 minutes (an episode) of Thomas before his naps and before bed. That is the only time he is still all day. The rest of the time he is moving non-stop.

One of Logan's favorite things to do is to get chased around and then land on pillows. He will do this for hours until we are exhausted.

Logan is more fun every day. He has a new babysitter that he loves going to. She is actually just across the street and has a boy a few months older than Logan. When I drop him off, he gives me a hug and starts playing. What a good little boy. We are so lucky to be his parents.

Las Vegas

A couple months ago, my sister-in-law Kelly said she wanted to plan a girls weekend trip and invited me to come along. It was the first time I have ever left Logan over night but luckily I have an AWESOME husband who I knew would take good care of him. It was such a great break.

Dinner at Red Lobster...It was my second time in a little over a week but so delicious!

During our trip, I got to meet M for the first time. So adorable! I am sure Logan and he will be best buds.

We got to see Daniel's brother, Jared, as well. They live in Arkansas and were visiting Lurana's family in Las Vegas. Daniel was really jealous about my trip when he heard we were going to see them.

We stayed at the same place that my friend stayed in in July when we went. It was AWESOME. There are 3 pools, a lazy river and I think 3 hot tubs. Loved it. Just wish it was a tad bit warmer so we would have gone swimming. Relaxing in the hot tub was awesome.

My friend Julia invited Logan and I to a play date and lunch at her house with our old grad school friends. It was so fun to catch up and see our kids play. It is funny how similar all of our lives are. We all had babies within a year of eachother and work part-time as SLP's at our local school districts.

This was a year ago. Logan was only a couple weeks old and next to him is Phineas who was only a month old.

Wow! Time sure does fly! I can't believe my baby is already 13 months! At 13 months, Logan:
- signs a lot..he likes to sign "milk", "more", "eat", "dog" and sometimes "mom", "dad" and "grandpa"
- talks all the time...really he jabbers but he does say "mom", "dada", "dog", "koda", "out" and is able to imitate a lot of one syllable words
- does not stop moving. Seriously. Even when he is tired, he walks around and looks like he is drunk because he keeps on falling. It is really hard to get a picture of him because he won't stand still.
- LOVES Koda. They are best friends. He LOVES walking up to Koda and giving her a hug. He loves playing with Koda with the curtains, feeding her, and tipping his bottle of milk upside down to draw with the milk and then laughs hysterically when Koda comes and licks it up. He also likes standing up at the top of the stairs and signs "dog" and starts talking like he is calling Koda up. What a funny kid.
- is able to go up and down the stairs by himself. It still makes me nervous. If we are close, he would rather just walk off the top of the stairs and have us catch him. We have been working on making sure he sits and turns himself around at the top of the stairs.
- is really into his toys. He is finally able to play a little by himself but gets really upset when he thinks the toys aren't working. Really- it is user error but of course he doesn't realize that.
- tries to talk on my phone. He holds it up like he is suppose to (although it usually ends up behind his ear) and then starts jabbering and walking around. Did I mention he doesn't stop?
Logan is such a great little boy. He certainly keeps our hands full and entertained and we just love it. It is so exciting when he learns anything new and that happens a couple times a day. We feel so blessed that he is a part of our family.

Valentine's Day and Warm Weather

We had a great Valentine's Day. Logan and I made valentine's cookies and decorated them when Daniel came home. We then delivered some to our neighbors and Logan got his valentine present that we had picked up at the BYU bookstore on the weekend. We really wanted to get him a book and start a tradition but unfortunately, they didn't have the one we we were looking for, so he picked out a monkey instead.

Daniel's parents were nice enough to come over and watch Logan so Daniel and I could get some much needed alone time and go out to dinner. We went to Red Lobster (so yummy!) and had a great time.

We have been LOVING this warm weather. I am seriously so much happier when the sun starts coming out earlier and I don't feel like it is still night when I am waking up. I also love being able to spend some time outside without shivering. Logan has been enjoying it too.

My one year old

I can't believe Logan is one already! At the same time, I can't really remember what life was like before him. He is such an amazing boy and he has truly blessed our lives. We love him more and more everyday which I don't know how that is even possible considering he completely captured our hearts even before he was born. Daniel and I were just talking about seeing him for the first time and crying and then seeing those adorable dimples. Wow. Our lives have been turned upside down because of him and we have loved every minute of it.

Some things that we love about Logan

- he smiles all the time...a lot of times I get him out of his crib in the morning and he is just so happy to see me. I love it.

- he likes to tease us...he often tries to get a dvd and we say no and he just smiles and brings it to us and leans his head forward for a kiss on the forehead

- he is a social butterfly...anywhere we go, Logan goes up and starts flirting with other people...I was at Costco the other day and Logan went up to a lady and turned his head to the side like he was shy and flashed his dimples. Her husband was like, "you better watch out. He's flirting with my wife and if he flirts this much when he is that young, just wait til he's a teenager."

- he is happy most of the time and if he is not, he will be happy as soon as he gets whatever he wants (my cell phone, the tv remote, my brush, milk..whatever

- he is darn cute. It is really hard to get mad at him or say no to him when he just smiles at us

- even though he is a social butterfly, he really is a momma and daddy's boy..he would prefer us over anyone but once he is comfortable in a place, he is usually happy to go to anyone.

-he loves other kids...and they love him. Logan always spots the kid in the room and goes up to them and tries to give them a hug. It is so cute. The kids love it too.

- he loves books and he is very smart. He is always trying to figure things out and surprises us how fast he picks up on things. The other day I was video-chatting with my dad and he asked Logan where Koda was. Well, Logan walked about 25 feet over to the chair in the corner where Koda was sleep and gave Koda a hug...like "here she is". What a smarty.

- he is affectionate. This morning, I got Logan out of his crib and he gave me a big hug. I brought him to the bedroom where Daniel was and he walked on the bed and gave Daniel a hug. He then started whining because he wanted down. We put him down on the floor and he then gave Koda a hug. What a sweet boy.

These are just a few of the things we love about Logan. He is a perfect little boy and count our blessings everyday that he is in our lives.

Fondue Party

Yesterday, Daniel and I had all of my family over to our house for a fondue party. We got a triple slowcooker for Christmas so we thought this was the perfect opportunity to use it. With 8 kids and 6 kids, lots of fondue and great conversation, it was a great time!

We had salmon, shrimp, and beef tenderloin and cooked it in oil, brocolli, zuchinni, carrots, and bread in cheese fondue, and pineapple, kiwi, banana, pretzels, and shortcake in chocolate. SOOOO YUMMY!

We had a kids table, but Joyce had a rough day and insisted on getting her own kiwi and a sharp skewer while on top of Scott's head

Christmas Morning

This was the best Christmas EVER!!! Seriously...nothing beats having your own kid and seeing how happy they are on Christmas morning. I love that this is his first Christmas but he is old enough to play with toys and really enjoy it. Being Logan's mom is the best!

We started off visiting Grandma and Grandpa Edwards on Christmas Eve morning. Logan always has lots of fun at Grandma and Grandpa's. I think his favorite thing to do was slide on and off the chair and run back and forth between the chair and Grandpa.

I can't believe Logan is already 11 months (or will be tomorrow). He will be 1 in a month! How crazy is that?!

At 11 months Logan:

-is walking like a pro

-has no doubt the world revolves around him

-is starting to show real peference for his mommy and daddy

-is showing interest in other kids

-favorite toys are my brush, the wii remotes and tv remotes...yes we give him toys but he would much rather have things that we use and need :)

-likes to stick out his tongue a lot

-says "mom" all the time and I swear I have heard him say "thank-you" a few times when I give him things

-isn't signing as much anymore but I think that is because he was focused on walking...we are going to work on teaching him more signs this month

-likes the Christmas tree and the Christmas decorations

-likes to lean his head to the side and smile when someone other than mom or dad is talking to him...he is such a flirt

-is absolutely adorable and is getting cuter and cuter everyday

This is from a week ago. He is much better now and can basically go across a small room by himself....and don't worry...I didn't push him at the end of the video. I was trying to keep him from falling on his face and he lost his balance and fell back. Anyways, he has been walking for a few weeks now and thinks he is pretty independent now. So fun!

5 Year Anniversary

I have a friend who takes a picture in her wedding dress every anniversary so I decided to try mine on too because I basically just wanted to know if it still fits and it does. Yay. It actually brought me back to our wedding day. What a great day that was.

5 years ago, we were married in the Cardston Alberta temple for time and all eternity. Part of me can't believe it has already been 5 years and the other part of me doesn't really remember life before it. We have had many up and downs over the last 5 years but it all has been so worth it. I don't think I really knew what love was when we got married. I think I have a better idea now but I am sure there is still a lot to learn, but luckily I have eternity to do so and I get to do it with my best friend.

Over the past 5 years, we have gotten 3 degrees between the two of us, bought a house, have gone through 4 cars, have had 5 different jobs, and have had a perfect son who we couldn't love any more.

For our anniversary, we dropped off Logan at Daniel's parents house and went to temple square. Over 5 years ago, Daniel proposed to me at the Roof Restaurant and really wanted to go for our anniversary. At first, I was somewhat ambivalent because it is pretty expensive and I thought we would enjoy Red Lobster or Texas Roadhouse just as much but I am so happy we decided to go. The Christmas lights were all turned on in temple square and it was beautiful. We got a table right next to the window and it was the perfect view. The food was amazing (buffet of prime rib, chicken cordon bleu, pork loin, ham, salad bar, shrimp, ect ect...). So yummy! And the dessert....wow! There was also a live piano player who was so talented and played really beautiful music. It was very romantic. We both really enjoyed our time together and talking about our future. What a perfect anniversary.

While we have had our share (or maybe more) of challenges, we know that we can get through anything together with the help of our Heavenly Father and are looking forward to our eternity together.

Thanksgiving

I just noticed this is my 200th post. Crazy!

We had a great Thanksgiving. Our anniversary was actually the same day as Thanksgiving, but I'll talk about that later. We had a really relaxing morning and then went to Daniel's aunts house in Centerville for Thanksgiving. Daniel's aunt and her family were visiting from California and a couple of Daniel's siblings and their families were there along with Daniel's parents and aunt's family (the ones who live in Centerville). After dinner, went went home for Logan to take a quick nap and then went to Daniel's brother's house for pie and football. It was a wonderful day and we had a great time with everyone. We are so blessed with such a great family and friends.

10 months

Logan is 10 months old. I can't believe it! In some ways I feel like I had him yesterday and in other ways I can't remember life before him. He is such a sweet, happy boy and we feel so blessed to have him in our lives.

At 10 months, Logan is

- crawling like a pro...and boy is he fast! We turn our head for a second and he is across the room

- is starting to walk...he is taking 3-4 steps going to back and forth to mommy and daddy

- is standing independently and will attempt to walk

- grabs our hands to walk with him

- shakes his head when we say no or he says no

- loves his toy walker and is starting to steer it

- says mom

-smiles when we sign I love you

- is climbing on everything

- is gettting into everything close to his level

- eats mostly what we eat with some baby food

- is developing quite a personality

Today I was released as the YW president. I have been in for the last two years. It definitely has been a life changing experience for me. These girls are amazing and such beautiful daughters of God. I have learned so much from them. The last couple of months have gotten harder and harder and the last week or two, I have felt like a change has needed to happen. I know that I have taught the girls everything that I could and that it is now time for them to have new leaders. I KNOW that their new leaders are the best for them at this time and feel a big weight lifted off of my shoulders knowing these girls are in good hands. While I love those girls, I am looking forward to spending more time with Logan.

Loving Summertime

We are loving summertime! It has given us a chance to get a lot done that we typically wouldn't get done during the school year. This past week, we got 21 18-gallon containers and filled them with our stuff. Our garage is completely clean and everything now fits on our shelves, our closets are cleaned out and color co-ordinated. I got rid of 2 containers worth of clothing and we packed away all of my maternity clothes and clothes Logan has grown out of.

Some fun things we have done this summer include: Canada, Las Vegas, Seven Peaks, swimming at the pool, boating, and BBQ's

This week we are going to go camping and then next week we are going to Canada again. And after that....summer is over and school starts!

In some ways this summer has seemed WAY too short but in other ways we are ready to get back to work and have a routine.

Las Vegas

I have no idea what we were talking about there.

On Tuesday, we left for Las Vegas for the Deaf Expo and to hang out with our friends. We had a great time! We did a lot of swimming, saw fun new things developed for the Deaf, had great food, and enjoyed our time with our friends.

We stayed at the Hilton Tuesday night and our friends house on Wednesday night. The Hilton was a nice hotel but super cheap at $42. With our stay, they gave us a gaming card to place a bet for $25. Daniel placed a bet and won so our hotel was basically paid for because of that.

On Tuesday night, we hung out with our friends at their hotel and ordered some pizza. Their place had a lazy river which was a lot of fun. Logan absolutely loved swimming!

On Wednesday morning, we went swimming at our hotel and then went to the Deaf Expo for a little bit. Then Lisa, Aiden (her son a few months older than Logan) and I went grocery shopping then back to her hotel to make dinner. Daniel, Logan and Lisa's husband Josh and our friends Jeremy, DeAnn and their sons Raegan and Hayden came too. We swam some more in their lazy river and hung out in the hot tub then went back to Jeremy and DeAnn's. On Thursday morning, we went to a really good buffet and then drove back to Utah so I could go to my friend's bridal shower.

Logan had his 6 month check up. Here are his stats:

Height: 27inches (67%ile)

Weight: 18lbs 4 oz (61%ile)

Head Circumference: 17.6 (67%ile)

Logan has really developed quite a personality the last couple of months. He loves watching Koda walk back and forth and follows her everywhere with his eyes. He loves petting Koda, pulling her fur and getting licked by her. Logan loves sign and will watch conversations back and forth in sign. He loves swimming and splashing in the water. He thinks he can hold his own bottle and feed himself but screams when he drops it. He loves solids and has his two bottom teeth in that he bites anything and everything with. He is a social butterfly and is perfectly happy looking at others as long as he knows mommy and daddy are close. He is the cutest boy ever and I just can't believe how fast he is growing up!

Bucket List

A couple weeks ago, Daniel and I were discussing our bucket list/dreams. These are a few of things we can already corss off our bucket list:

1. Own a house
2. Have a child (although we do want more)
3. Start a business
4. Go to Hawaii
5. Get my Master's degree (Jessica)- Daniel is one internship away
6. Love my job (Jessica)

These are a few things we want to do before we die.

1. Be in a flash mob (Jessica)
2. Be certified scuba divers
3. Have a cabin in Waterton
4. Teach deaf kids in Africa
5. Own a charity speech therapy clinic
6. Travel the world together

I am sure there are more, but I can't think of any. Sorry that we haven't posted pics in awhile. I broke our camera while we were in Canada :( We hope to either fix it or get a new one soon. Happy Summer, everyone!

Girls camp was so much fun! Daniel and Logan joined us and all six of our YW came as well as both of my couselors and the camp director. We stayed at a cabin which was so nice...except for the no running water and having to use the outhouse..but it was so great. We went hiking, did skits, did a craft, and had a lot of girl talk. These girls are all so amazing and I feel so lucky to be their leader!

Last Tuesday, I took Logan swimming for the first time. He hated it. I think it had something to do with it not being as warm as his bath and millions of screaming kids and him getting splashed in the eye. We will try it again soon.

SO much better than 1 and 2 month check ups!! Logan has brought so much joy into our lives.
At 4 months, Logan loves putting his hands in his mouth and smiling at his mommy and daddy. He also loves lights and music and is oh so close to rolling over. He is almost there. He is cooing and squealing all the time. So cute! We love our little Logan.

Graduation

My brother, Scott, graduated with his Masters (in Statistics) and soon to be Doctorate (in Cconomics). We are so proud of him! He also landed a job at CDC and will soon be moving to Atlanta.

Logan and I flew out to Washington for his graduation. My sister flew with us and we met my parents and grandparents there (along with my brother and his family). We had a great time together and we are excited to visit them in Atlanta. Way to go Master/Doctor Scott!

So now my mom, sister, and brother all of the doctorates....hmm....can you say pressure? :)

Outdoor Swing

We bought the swing set a week before Logan's baby blessing. We figured it would be perfect for when our nieces and nephews come over. We also thought it would be nice for Logan to have an outdoor swing so we can hang out in the yard a lot this summer.

Boondocks

After Heritage Park, Daniel and I remembered that we could both get into boondocks for free that weekend because we are both considered teachers and work for school districts in Utah. We saw our friends (and neighbors) there and played mini golf with them. We also did go cart racing, and water bumpers (is that what they're called)? Anyways, it was a great free date night.

About 4 weeks ago, Daniel and I went with my sister and her family to Heritage Park in SLC. We had a lot fun and so did the kids. Logan slept most of the time while we enjoyed walking around, riding the train, seeing the animals and learning about the pioneers. One of my favorite parts was seing the deseret alphabet. I love phonetics..pathetic I know :)

Speech Therapy

I have applied for business licenses, set up a blog, and have started buying tests and other materials so now it's time to find some clients :) I am still working at the school district until summer but hope to find enough clients so that I can cut down my hours in the fall. Baby Blessing

On April 11th, Logan was blessed by his father (Daniel). There was also President Erwin (the branch president), his uncles Ben, Wilson, and Tim, and his two grandpa's (Edwards and Goates) in the circle. Logan was a perfect angel and didn't make a peep the entire sacrament meeting. He has been such a blessing for our family and we couldn't love him more.

We were so lucky to have so many loved ones with us for Logan's special day. Thank you everyone for their support and loving our special little boy.

Here is Logan with his twin cousins R and C on the left (don't ask me who is who) and his cousin Max on the right. The twins were born in Sept and Max was born in August. How nice is it that he has 3 boy cousins just a few months older than him? He also has a girl cousin born last May and will have another one born this May. There is one more cousin on their way (not sure if it is a boy or girl) who will make an appearance in October.

These are our friends Jeremy, DeeAnn, their son Hayden, Josh, Lisa and their son Aiden. We all dated our spouses and got married around the same time and attended the provo deaf ward. We also ended up having baby boys with in a couple months of each other. Logan is going to have so many friends!

Luckily it was warm enough for us to be outside (because there would be NO WAY we could all it into our house). Here are some of the kids blowing bubbles. Koda is right in there with them loving every moment and I think the kids liked having Koda to play with too.

We had a wonderful Easter today. We went to my sister's for a delicious dinner and had a great time. Melissa got the boys (Max and Logan) matching bibs. So cute! Dinner was so yummy and Daniel enjoyed drawing with Mason while we caught up. Melissa even made a bunny cake. MMM...

Spring Break

A week ago, Daniel's parents celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary. We celebrated with a delicious dinner and had lots of fun.

We had a great time in Waterton. I was able to see Aunt Karen (she is not really my aunt...but she is just like one), my friend Nicole, Rachel and Mark and Sarah. We also ate incredible food while we were there...salmon..steak...pulled pork...turkey...asparagus...funeral potatoes...Tim Horton's..Yum! One of my favorite things was our "suite". A couple years ago, my parents basement flooded and they re-did the whole thing. We stayed in a great room down there that has a bathroom with a huge jetted tub with a tv on the wall..it was heaven..definitely something we want in our next house!

Logan is our little rock star. At 2 months
-he weighs 11 lbs (34%ile)
-is 23 inches long (50%ile)
- his head circumference is in the 64th%ile
- he smiles at his mommy and daddy and sometimes strangers
- he drinks about 4-5 oz each feeding
- he sleeps 6-8 hours at night (about 2/3 of the time)
- he grabs our hand when we feed him
- he loves being held by Jessica's YW and is a big flirt
- he turns to sound
- he has a strong neck and strong legs
- he is the light of our lives
- he has had his 2 month vacines and did well...although it was the first time I saw real tears and I have never seen him so upset.
- he is starting to show a preference for his mom :)

One Month Yesterday

In one month I have to go back to work. Don't get me wrong. I love my job. I love the kids I work with. I love the faculty I work with. I love speech-language therapy. I couldn't ask for a better (paid) job. But....I really don't want to leave Logan. I have absolutely loved being home with him the last two months. I love to see him stretch and his adorable facial expressions when he wakes up. I love his cute little grunts when he is eating and how he folds his arms. I love his cry when I take the bottle out to burp him. I love him looking at me and us just studying eachother. I even love as soon as I take off a dirty diaper how he automaticaly stops crying. I love how he laughs in his sleep. I love how when I talk to him, he smiles. I love how he almost rolls his eyes as I kiss him over and over and over again. Luckily, I am only going back to work for 7 or 8 weeks then it is off for the summer (although I may work 1 day/ week). I am going back full time..we need the insurance..and the money is good too...I know I just need to get over it and think I have the summer but still. It's hard to think about leaving him and going to work. Luckily, he will be well taken care of. Daniel works every other day so he will watch him the days he is home and the other days Logan's grandma will watch him. I think that will make it much easier going back to work and I know he will be perfectly fine....but I don't think I will. I am going to try to savor every moment of this last month with him before work. Any suggestions of how to prepare going back to work without a major meltdown?

As part of our family journal, I wanted to put some thoughts down about Daniel..so feel free to skip :)

Everyday, I learn more and more about Daniel. We have been married 4 1/2 years, and dated 2 years, but after all this time, I still learn little things about him. Here are some of the things I have learned and in no particular order:
1. he is the bestest friend anyone could ever have, not only to me, but to a lot of people. He doesn't ever make me feel stupid and laughs with me when I am being silly. He always tells me I am beautiful and makes me really believe that he does think I am even when I feel ugly. He never back stabs anyone or speaks ill of anyone...(that is one thing I really admire about him.) He is always there for you. If anyone is having a problem, they know they can call Daniel and talk to him without feeling judged..he is a good listener.
2. He is the best dad ever (well..maybe tied with my dad). Although he loves work, he says he would much rather hang out with me, Logan and Koda during the day. He doesn't ever complain about changing diapers or getting bottles ready or that Logan is crying or anything. He is very protective over Logan and his number one concern is always Logan's safety and happiness. He is a natural. He will talk with Logan, read to him, rock him to sleep if he is fussy, always tells him how much we love him ect ect. I could go on and on.
3. He is a good leader. I am learning this more and more these days. When I first married Daniel, I thought of him as kinda a quiet guy who keeps to himself a little, but over the last 4 years, I have seen Daniel come out of his shell and become an amazing leader. He is the elders quorum president of our branch and he really takes it seriously. Some weeks, he will spend over 20 hours working on things for elders quorum. Currently, our elders quorum and high priests meet together, so Daniel is the one who makes sure there are teachers every week, is in charge of home teaching assignments and making sure every family is visited. I think the men in our branch really look up to Daniel and I know my young women think he is amazing too.
4. He is very spiritual and full of knowledge and is really good at sharing that with others. Now, I always knew this to some extent, but I didn't know how much. When we were in our hearing ward, neither Daniel or I ever got asked to speak. Our callings were in the nursery and Daniel especially didn't get to know that many people in the ward. We have been in the branch now for a year and a half, and Daniel has given maybe 6 talks since we have been here. Maybe more. And they are always amazing. He also often gives the lesson in priesthood because the other teachers are sick or forget or don't show up or whatever...Daniel will quickly read the lesson or article, and then give amazing lessons on it. I think this is because he really knows the gospel and has this incredible talent to teach others about it. I think also because he has gone through a lot, he has a strong testimony of the atonement and power of Jesus Christ and can understand what people are going through or struggling with in their lives and believes that they can change.
5. He is a wonderful husband. He always makes sure I am doing ok and am happy. He usually sweeps, mops, puts things away (usually belonging to me, Logan and Koda) and folds laundry without even being asked. When he is starting to get hungry, instead of asking me what is for dinner, he says what do you feel like and then will often make it for us. He isn't a whiner...that is something I need to learn from him...I wouldn't say he is the most romantic guy, but he will do things every day to make me feel loved, whether that is sending an email or calling me from work, giving me a huge smile on his face when he comes home, kissing me before he leaves and when he comes home.
He really is an amazing guy and I am so lucky he is my husband!

O Canada!

We have absolutely LOVED watching the olympics and wish we we were there in Vancouver (which has to be one of the prettiest cities in the world). It made me really miss Canada but we have been cheering for the Canadian athletes the last couple of weeks and have celebrated with them in spirit. Today we watched the men's gold medal hockey game and couldn't have been happier with the outcome. Go Canada!

Last night was our first date night since Logan was born. It was hard to leave him and I thought about him the whole time, but luckily we were able to get Daniel's parents to babysit so Logan got to hang out with his grandma and grandpa (and great aunt?). Thanks, Mom and Dad!

Birthday fun

This past weekend, Logan got to go to his first birthday party (well...parties). We had a great time and it was fun playing with his cousins. Our one nephew, Mason, turned 5 and had a Mickey Mouse clubhouse themed party.

Our other nephew, L, had his 3rd birthday party. He had a lot of fun opening presents and playing with his cousins.

Swing Time

Logan absolutely LOVES his swing and so do we. (Thanks mom and dad!) It is so nice to put him in it and have my hands free just for a few minutes and it totally calms him.

So we got a new camera just before (and I mean right before) Logan was born so we never got a chance to really figure it out and still haven't. So here is a very short video of Logan in his swing.

One month old!

Where has all the time gone?! Logan is already one month old! At one month, Logan:

- is 8 lbs 1 oz and 21.25 inches long

- is starting to really love eating

- has a million different expressions. We love his expressions when we are trying to wake him up. He will go from a pouty face to a kissy lips face to a trembling lip to a smile in seconds. It is so adorable!

- is starting to track items and toys

- loves looking outside

- recognizes her mom and dad and will look into our eyes

- is very even tempered. He cries when we change his diaper, he is getting hungry and sometimes when he is about to poop but other than that he just coos and makes grunting noises when eating

We couldn't love our little boy any more. We love waking up to him and holding our sweet little boy. This month has been the best ever!

Valentine's Day

We had a great Valentine's Day. After church, we went to Provo to my sisters' for a Valentine's dinner. MMM.....cheese fondue and chocolate fondue...Daniel and Mason did some drawings and projects and Mason was so pleased with it. Mason loves when Daniel comes over and they can color together and he thinks he can draw anything. Mason also gave me a Valentines and a card that he wrote himself saying that he loves us. What a cutie!

Logan is so lucky to have both sets of grandparents in his life. My parents came on Saturday to see and hang out with their new grandson. They have loved holding him and feeding him and just getting to know him better. The picture above is of my dad, Logan, and his cousin Max who is 6 months old. Logan has so many cousins his age and I can't wait til they are all a little older and best friends. We also were able to stop by Daniel's parents house. Logan loved hanging out with Grandma and Grandpa Edwards and being doted on. He is one loved boy!

A couple of my grad school friends and I got together for lunch at Julia's house. We had a lot of fun catching up and taking pictures of our babies. We were all at BYU and we have seen eachother date and marry, graduate BYU and then graduate the U and now we are all moms. So crazy! The two girls are 6 months (and absolutely adorable!), Logan is the smallest, and then his friend Finn is 2 weeks older and one cute baby. Yes...they are only two weeks apart and no we did not plan the matching overalls :)

So thank you everyone for keeping Logan in your thoughts and prayers. Today we went to the doctors office. We were pretty nervous because although we have been feeding him like crazy, we weren't sure if it was going to make a difference. Last Thursday he was 6 lbs 13.5 oz.....well today he was...8 lbs 1 oz!! That is 19.5 oz (if I did my math right) in 4 days!! We are so happy that he is doing well and is gaining weight. So yay, Logan!

Weigh In

Last week at Logan's doctors appointment, they told us to come back in a week check his weight because he wasn't gaining what he should be. Well, today we were at the doctors to get him weighed and while he should have gained at least 3.5 oz, he lost an ounce and a half, so now he is back to less than his birth weight at 4 weeks old!!! We are definetly concerned about it and are goind to start waking him up and feeding him at night and every hour and half to two hours during the day and basically whenever he is awake (rather than whenever he woke up or up to 3 hours between feedings)to make sure he gets enough. On Monday we will go back and weigh him and are crossing our fingers this new plan will work.

Last week, Logan had a doctors appointment and was 6 lbs 14.5 oz (his birth weight) and the doctor said that everything is looking good. He had another appointment today to do his PKU and to make sure he is developing appropriately. He has grown an inch since birth (which is good) but is only 6 lbs 15 oz so he isn't gaining as much as we would like (only half an oz in 5 days) so we are back to supplementing. It has been really frustrating that I can't nurse him exclusively (I am very stubborn and do not give up on things) but I know it is best for Logan (and less stressful for me because he is happier when he is full) to supplement so he can gain weight and be healthy.

On Monday, Daniel and I had a day out and bought Logan a crib (pictures to come later). We bought it in Ogden but Daniel had to go back to pick it up because we couldn't fit it in the car with Logan's car seat. When Daniel went back, it was just a couple inches to big for the car. While he was wondering who he could call or if he should just take it out of the packaging, someone drove up in their truck and asked if he wanted him to drop it off for him. Daniel told him he lived in Layton so it was a little far and he was perfectly fine doing it for us. We seriously meet the nicest people. Basically the same thing happened to us on Thanksgiving day when we bought our recliner. We went to the store because it was on sale and we didn't see it displayed. Another couple were looking for the same chair. They brought it up and set it up and we started talking with the other couple. They had just had a baby and she said she wished she had it when she was pregnant. We both ended up buying it and I was talking to Daniel about who we could call to see if they could pick it up for us. The other couple casually asked us if we needed someone to drop it off for us (they didn't know what we were talking about because we were signing) and we said we were going to call a couple friends and they offered to drop it off for us. I can't believe how kind people are to people they don't even know. It definitely makes me want to find opportunities to help others more.

Yesterday, Logan and I took our first short trip together to Provo to visit my sister. It was a very successful day. I was really worried about leaving home and not having everything on hand but it worked out well and I even had one extra diaper by the time I got home (I had brought 5 and we were only gone 6 hours!)

Logan is doing great and we couldn't be happier with having him in our lives. We are slowly adjusting to being parents but we honestly would not trade it for the world. We love our little Logan and think he is absolutely perfect in every way.
